Course Description – safeguarding children is a mandatory training requirement for anyone who has direct contact with children as part of the work or voluntary role. This course is for those who have never undertaken a safeguarding course before, or for those who have not completed a training update in the last 3 years.
The course covers; legislation and key guidance, categories of child abuse, definitions and indicators, signs and symptoms, associated risk factors with reference to key groups, barriers to disclosures, how to respond to disclosures, recognising and reporting abuse, the referral process and information regarding other involved professionals and what happens after a referral.
Duration – 6 hours
Assessment – summative assessment contained within course content. Successful completion of work-place based scenarios
