Women’s Integration Skills & Employment (WISE), Donegal, helps women back into employment, education or self-employment and has been shortlisted for the prestigious RegioStars Awards in Category 3 – Combatting inequalities and poverty. The winners of each category and the overall Public choice award will be announced at the RegioStars ceremony in Brussels on the 9th of October.
The RegioStars are Europe’s awards for the most innovative, regional projects. Each year, the European Commission awards those EU-funded projects, which demonstrate excellence, are scalable and transferable with the goal of inspiring other regions and project managers across Europe, participating projects are in the spotlight of communication activities at European level.
The RegioStars are awarded to projects across thematic categories:
Overall there were 199 submissions for RegioStars 2019. A jury of 15 experts assessed the project applications, choosing 24 finalists across the five categories and will ultimately crown one winner per category.
In addition, the public will decide on its own winner out of the 24 projects through a public on-line vote and award for the Public choice award. Voting is open for the public choice award and will be live until midnight, 9th of September.

WISE is co-funded by the Department of Justice and Equality and the European Social Fund as part of the Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020. WISE is one of the projects that is co-ordinated and supported by People 1st, which is particularly proud to be awarded the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Platinum Award Winner 2018.
David Stanton, the Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration has thanked People 1st for increasing access to training opportunities in line with Action 1.7 of the National Strategy for Women and Girls and congratulated them on being shortlisted for RegioStars Award.
