This course is ideal if you are already working in the retail sector and want to progress, or for those looking to work in the sector who’d like to increase their knowledge. You will study the retail sector, incorporating a key core of knowledge , and provide opportunities for you to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.
To give you an understanding of this course, topics include:
- Understanding the development of personal and team effectiveness in a retail business
- Understanding the retail selling process
- Understanding the management of risks to health and safety on the premises of a retail business
- Understanding customer service in the retail sector
- Understanding how the effectiveness of store operations can be improved
- Understanding the management of stock in a retail business
If you are aged 16 to 25 (and over 25 for some qualifications)* and working a minimum of 21 hours per week, you could access this course for free through the ApprenticeshipsNI programme.

You could continue learning by completing a Level 3 Diploma in Retail Skills (Management or Sales Professional). You could also progress in work in roles such as customer relationship manager, team leader, key account manager, buyer, or merchandiser.
