Emotional Intelligence


Course overview - 

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability of individuals to recognise their own and others’ emotions, discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behaviour.  EI also develops the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions.

This half day course aims to introduce candidates EI and develop their understanding of the subject.  In additional candidates will learn how to identify and improve their level of EI for a better understanding of self, as well as sensing the emotions of others. By developing EI, one can become more productive and successful and help others to do the same.

During this course, candidates will gain an insight into:

•    What is EI and why is it important
•    How to lead with emotional intelligence
•    The language used to develop EI Communication
•    Exploring and examining their current level of EI through exercise and group work
•    How to cultivate EI in the workplace

Candid Conversations

Course overview - 

This half day course is an opportunity to gain skills to handle difficult conversations without damaging the relationship, increasing management competency and effectiveness.
This course aims to provide candidates with the skills and knowledge required to conduct challenging conversations with staff, perhaps about their behaviour, results, or actions. It will also cover how to handle demanding and testing individuals. This course will equip candidates with the necessary confidence, knowledge and skills to engage with people from a productive and focused position.
This course will provide a simple overview of a framework for helping to maintain an objective and balanced position in challenging circumstances.

By the end of this course, candidates will understand:

•    The importance of giving feedback, praising, reprimanding and how to do it
•    Developing a framework to determine what action is appropriate
•    Understanding and addressing your own and others' aggressive instincts
•    Simple and straightforward methods to help conduct and run challenging conversations

Handling Complaints and Concerns

Course overview - 
Dealing with complaints and concerns are part and parcel of a manager's role; however the way in which you deal with those issues says a lot to your clients.  Do you and your staff have the confidence you need to deal with complaints and concerns, and do you know what you can and cannot do to help? This half day course gives you the opportunity to reflect on your practice and what you can do to handle these situations positively.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Recognise the skills and qualities needed to handle a complaint
  • Appreciate how to engage with customers and build positive rapport
  • Maintain control of the conversation while showing empathy
  • Establish the customers' needs through positive questioning and listening

Managing Meetings

Course overview - 

Effective meetings should bring the right people together for a specific purpose.  They should provide an opportunity for discussion and deliver results such as decisions, a plan, or an understanding of the work and challenges ahead.  Managing meetings is one of the most expensive activities an organisation can carry out.  The more senior you are in an organisation, the more often you attend meetings.  But are these meetings always effective?  Are they planned for and do they have a purpose and clear objective?
 
This half day course aims to give participants:

  • The knowledge needed on how to structure a meeting
  • An understanding of the work required in preparing for meetings
  • The confidence to manage difficult situations in meetings

Motivating the Team

Course overview - 

This half day course aims to help candidates understand more about how to motivate their team. 
Motivation drives us to achieve our goals and as a result feel fulfilled and happy with our overall quality of life.  This course is designed to increase candidates’ awareness of motivational techniques, identify what motivates them and how they can discover others’ needs and drivers.
Some key motivation theories are discussed and there will be opportunity to apply these practically.

During the Super Supervisor course, which will be delivered online over 2 x 3 hour sessions,  you will discuss a range of areas relevant to the role of the Team leader.  The purpose of this course is to help you work smarter rather than harder to get the desired results from the team.
