Course Description
This course is for a learner looking to work within the catering industry. This qualification shows employers and customers that you have the skills to work in a range of jobs preparing food to a professional standard.
Mandatory Units include
Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
Maintain, handle and clean knives
Maintenance of a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
Optional units – to be arranged
Duration
12 - 24 months depending on course and individual circumstances
Assessment
Oral and written unit assessments through student portfolio with practical vocational observation by a qualified Assessor; Witness Testimonies and Professional Discussion.
Entry Requirements
Aged 16 – 17 years old Or Young person with a disability and be under 22 years old, Or Young person who qualifies under the Children (Leaving Care) Act (NI) (2002) and who is under 24 years old.
18 – 24 years old working 21 hrs or above in a relevant job role
All aged groups, must be employed or working voluntary in a relevant job role
Progression Routes
Students can progress to higher education or level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
