The Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles is for anyone who works or wants to work in hospitality and catering; it will give you the underpinning knowledge that can help you get a job in the sector or progress in your career.
To give you an understanding of this course, topics include:
- Safe, hygienic and secure working environments in hospitality
- Effective teamwork
- Giving customers a positive impression
- Food safety in catering
- Principles of customer service in Hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism
- Principles of providing a counter and takeaway service
- Principles of preparing and serving hot drinks using specialist equipment
- Dealing with payments
If you are working a minimum of 21 hours per week in the Hospitality sector, you may be eligible to access this course for free at any age through the All-Age Apprenticeships programme. Conditions apply.

You could progress to a level 3 hospitality or professional cookery qualification, or you could specialise in a particular area of hospitality including food and beverage service, front office, house-keeping and professional cookery where roles include;
