This Level 2 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Children’s Care Learning & Development course is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children.
It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is suitable for those who wish to work, or are working, in a supervised role in children’s care, learning and development in Northern Ireland.
To give you an understanding of this course, topics include:
- Context, principles and values that underpin practice
- Communication and partnership working
- Safeguarding children
- Keeping children safe, healthy and well
- Support children’s personal care and nutrition

Delivery & Funding
If you are a school-leaver* and not working full time, you could access this Level 2 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Children’s Care Learning & Development Northern Ireland course for free through the Skills for Life and Work programme.

If you are working a minimum of 21 hours per week in the Childcare sector, you may be eligible to access this course for free at any age through the All-Age Apprenticeships programme. Conditions apply.
This qualification is delivered online via Zoom on a fortnightly basis (evening sessions: 6.30pm–9.30pm) – designed to fit around busy work schedules.
If you wish to self-fund, the cost is £950 + VAT, + a registration fee of £103.
A good standard of written English and ICT is required.

On completion of the Level 2 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Children’s Care Learning & Development Northern Ireland You could complete further study such as the Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care Learning & Development Northern Ireland, or progress in roles such as
- childcare assistant
- nursery assistant,
- teaching assistant
- childminder
- health play specialist
- family support worker
- early years teacher.
