This qualification is designed to provide you with an introduction to the skills and knowledge required for working in the hospitality and catering industry. You will have the opportunity to gain basic hospitality and catering skills and develop other core employability skills.
To give you an understanding of this course, topics include:
- Food and drink service
- Health and safety for catering
- Healthy diet planning
- Tea and coffee counter service
- Understanding food and nutrition
- Employment opportunities within the hospitality industry
If you are a school-leaver, aged 16-18 and not working full time, you could access this course for free through the Skills for Life and Work programme.

Learners can continue their development by progressing to Level 2 and Level 3 Hospitality and Catering qualifications through an apprenticeship pathway.
Those working 21 hours or more per week in the sector may be eligible to complete their training fully funded, at any age, under the All-Age Apprenticeships programme.
